Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, and Safran Helicopter Engines have entered into a new strategic collaboration aimed at advancing propulsion technologies for current and future vertical lift platforms. The partnership will focus on evaluating innovative engine architectures, optimizing propulsion integration, accelerating aircraft development cycles, and improving manufacturing efficiency across both military and commercial rotorcraft programs. In addition to supporting existing helicopter fleets, the collaboration will examine advanced propulsion solutions for future rotary-wing aircraft and unmanned aerial systems designed to meet evolving operational requirements. Building upon more than four decades of successful cooperation, during which Safran has supplied engines for Sikorsky’s S-76 helicopter family, the initiative combines extensive engineering expertise to develop more efficient, reliable, and adaptable propulsion systems capable of supporting the next generation of aerospace platforms.
