The Royal Australian Air Force has received its first Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band pods from Raytheon, marking a major upgrade for its EA-18G Growler electronic warfare fleet. More deliveries are expected later this year under Canberra’s order for eight shipsets, each with two wing-mounted pods. Developed jointly with the US Navy and Australia, the NGJ-MB features digital architecture, modular open systems design, and active electronically scanned arrays to jam enemy radars and communications. The system replaces the aging ALQ-99 jamming equipment and reached initial operational capability in late 2024.
