USSOCOM has launched a new procurement effort focused on synthetic data generation technologies to strengthen AI-powered computer vision capabilities for unmanned systems. Working alongside defense innovation partner SOFWERX, the command is seeking solutions that can rapidly create realistic training datasets for machine learning algorithms. Managed under the UxSAI program, the project aims to improve autonomous target detection, tracking, and decision-making across a variety of operational environments. The use of synthetic data could significantly reduce training timelines, improve model accuracy, and enable drones and robotic systems to operate more effectively in complex and contested battlefield scenarios.
