Denmark is set to strengthen its strategic strike capability following US approval of a proposed $842-million acquisition of 200 JASSM-ER cruise missiles for integration with its F-35 fighter aircraft. The long-range weapon, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, offers a combat reach of nearly 1,000 kilometers, allowing Danish forces to conduct precision attacks against critical military infrastructure without exposing aircraft to advanced enemy air-defense systems. The package includes logistics and sustainment support and is expected to improve Denmark’s ability to deter threats and contribute to NATO operations. Featuring stealth characteristics, advanced navigation systems, and an imaging infrared seeker for terminal guidance, the missile can effectively engage strategic targets such as command facilities, missile launch sites, logistics centers, and air-defense installations.
