India is evaluating potential collaboration with European sixth-generation fighter initiatives, including GCAP and FCAS, to accelerate access to advanced combat aviation technologies. The move reflects the Indian Air Force’s effort to prepare for future air warfare by incorporating capabilities such as AI-enabled systems, unmanned teaming, and network-centric operations. Although joining an international program could enhance technological cooperation and reduce development costs, challenges related to program timelines, industrial participation, and strategic priorities remain. At the same time, India continues to focus on developing the indigenous AMCA stealth fighter and complementary unmanned platforms to ensure long-term self-reliance in military aviation.
