Washington has cleared potential helicopter sales to South Korea valued at over $4 billion as Seoul continues strengthening its defense posture against North Korean threats. The approved deals include 24 “Romeo” Seahawk helicopters for maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare missions, along with support and upgrade packages for South Korea’s Apache attack helicopter fleet. The move reflects growing defense cooperation between the two allies and follows South Korean commitments to significantly expand purchases of US military equipment over the coming years.
