Reliance and Rolls-Royce Explore Joint Development of AMCA Combat Engine in India Reliance Industries and Rolls-Royce are exploring a strategic partnership to develop an indigenous combat aircraft engine for India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft program. Under the proposed arrangement, the companies could establish an Aerospace Gas Turbine Complex that would create a dedicated Indian hub for advanced propulsion technology. Rolls-Royce would contribute its extensive experience in aero-engine development and engineering, while Reliance would bring industrial infrastructure, manufacturing capabilities, technology, and large-scale execution expertise. The proposed partnership is intended to create sovereign capabilities spanning the complete engine lifecycle, including design, development, production, testing, and long-term support. The initiative supports India’s efforts to reduce dependence on foreign technologies and expand domestic capabilities in critical defense systems. The proposed complex could also eventually support wider applications in military and civil aerospace as well as emerging power and propulsion technologies, strengthening India’s ambitions to become a major global aerospace manufacturing and technology hub.
