The future Rafale F5 fighter standard is expected to significantly boost beyond-visual-range combat power by increasing Meteor missile carriage from four to potentially six. The enhancement will be enabled by the upgraded Safran M88 T-REX engine, which is expected to offset added drag and weight from heavier air-to-air loads. A six-Meteor configuration would improve engagement flexibility, persistence, and lethality during high-intensity combat. For India, the development could be relevant if later MRFA program batches include the advanced F5 version.
