The US State Department has approved a potential $100-million foreign military sale package that would provide sustainment services and support equipment for Vietnam’s prospective C-130 Hercules fleet. The package includes spare parts, engine components, maintenance equipment, technical assistance, software, logistics support, and training solutions. Although Vietnam does not currently operate the C-130, the approval has fueled speculation that Hanoi may be preparing to acquire surplus C-130H transport aircraft. Washington stated that the initiative would strengthen Vietnam’s airlift capabilities while supporting broader regional security objectives in the Indo-Pacific.
