India’s Project Kusha has reached another important development milestone following successful testing of its long-range surface-to-air interceptor. According to industry representatives supporting the program, the missile exceeded its planned performance objectives during developmental evaluation, demonstrating greater operational reach than originally targeted. Developed under the leadership of DRDO with contributions from domestic industry partners, the interceptor incorporates advanced propulsion technologies, precision guidance, and high-performance control systems to engage high-speed aerial threats at extended ranges. The broader Kusha program includes multiple interceptor variants designed to establish a layered air defense architecture capable of countering aircraft, cruise missiles, and other advanced airborne threats. Continued developmental testing will support future refinement of longer-range variants while strengthening India’s self-reliant missile manufacturing capability through close cooperation between public and private industry.
