Sierra Space has secured a major contract from the US Space Development Agency to manufacture 18 advanced missile warning and tracking satellites for the Accelerated Missile Defense Tranche 3 (AMDT3) Tracking Layer under the Golden Dome missile defense initiative. Built on the company’s Horizon satellite platform, the spacecraft will provide continuous space-based surveillance capable of detecting and tracking ballistic and hypersonic missile threats throughout multiple phases of flight. The award builds upon Sierra Space’s ongoing Tranche 2 program, where spacecraft production is already progressing toward qualification and system verification. The Golden Dome architecture integrates multiple layers of satellites, sensors, interceptors, and command networks to strengthen homeland missile defense. Alongside parallel contracts awarded to L3Harris and other major defense contractors, the program represents a significant expansion of America’s space-based early warning infrastructure and long-term strategic deterrence capabilities.
