American defense technology company Anduril and Poland’s state-owned defense group PGZ have agreed to establish a production facility for the Barracuda-500M surface-launched cruise missile in Bydgoszcz, significantly expanding Europe’s long-range precision strike manufacturing capacity. The collaboration includes progressive localization of the supply chain, with production managed by PGZ subsidiary WZL-2 and designed to produce several thousand autonomous cruise missiles within a relatively short timeframe. The Barracuda-500M carries a 45-kilogram warhead and can engage both land and maritime targets at ranges exceeding 500 nautical miles while emphasizing affordability, scalability, and rapid production. The programme aligns with NATO’s objective of increasing European defense manufacturing capacity while strengthening Poland’s domestic missile industry and enhancing alliance readiness through locally produced long-range strike capabilities.
