Berlin has announced the deployment of a Patriot missile defense unit to Turkey under a NATO rotation program intended to reinforce allied air defense coverage. The mission will involve approximately 150 German personnel operating an American-made Patriot system capable of countering tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and enemy aircraft. The deployment comes as NATO continues responding to increased missile threats in the region following Iranian rocket attacks targeting US allies. Germany’s contribution will replace an American contingent currently stationed in Turkey and reflects NATO’s continued efforts to strengthen integrated regional missile defense operations.
