L3Harris has secured a $65 million US Army contract to continue producing propulsion systems for the Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS. The agreement includes manufacturing M124 motors along with igniters, exit cones, and related components, with deliveries expected during 2027 and 2028. ATACMS remains a major element of American long-range fires capability and has been fielded for decades to strike command centers, logistics hubs, and other strategic targets. Company officials said L3Harris is committed to sustaining production levels as demand rises from both US forces and allied customers. The firm has supported the missile program for over three decades, with core production based in Camden, Arkansas. That facility manufactures large quantities of solid rocket motors annually and performs extensive hot-fire testing to verify safety and performance standards. Supporting components are also produced in Cincinnati, Ohio, where the company builds arming and firing systems used in missile launch operations. International interest in ATACMS has expanded significantly. Ukraine has employed the missile in combat, although reports earlier this year suggested available stocks had been exhausted. Taiwan received the first shipment from its previous order in November 2024. Meanwhile, Morocco, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland jointly purchased additional missiles under a $227 million package announced in mid-2024. Although the US Army is developing the Precision Strike Missile as a successor, the latest order confirms ATACMS remains an important operational and export weapon, particularly for allies seeking proven long-range precision strike capability.
