Turkey has advanced its indigenous Steel Dome air-defense initiative by signing $6.5 billion in new contracts covering radars, missiles, EW systems, command centers, and short- and long-range interceptors. Modeled conceptually after Israel’s Iron Dome, Steel Dome uses AI-driven architecture to defend against diverse aerial threats. The program aligns with Turkey’s push for defense self-sufficiency and has expanded amid heightened regional instability. Earlier this year, Turkey received key components valued at $460 million, including Hisar, Siper, Alp-series radars, Puhu and Redet EW systems, and Korkut vehicles. Defense exports climbed to $7.15 billion in 2024 with expectations of surpassing $8 billion in 2025.
