A $1.7 billion contract has been finalized to provide the US Army and Poland with nine LTAMDS radars and associated support. This new radar system, designed with 360-degree AESA technology, represents the replacement for the Patriot radar and has already demonstrated capability through eight successful flight tests. With Milestone C approval, production will commence in 2025, signifying readiness for operational deployment. Poland emerges as the first international buyer, integrating the LTAMDS into its WISŁA program, which connects legacy Patriot systems into a modernized network via the Integrated Battle Command System. This builds on Poland’s earlier role as the first US ally to adopt IBCS in 2018. Furthermore, Poland’s state-owned WZE will contribute as an international supplier by producing energy storage assembly modules, a first for the program. The collaboration underscores Poland’s growing role in transatlantic defense partnerships while strengthening NATO’s integrated missile defense posture. For the US, the contract represents a significant modernization step in layered air defense, ensuring resilience against evolving threats from ballistic and cruise missiles.
