India’s Astra Mk3 long-range air-to-air missile program is moving toward critical airborne integration and live-fire testing phases as DRDO advances development of the SFDR-powered BVRAAM system. The missile is designed to engage aerial threats at ranges reportedly reaching 350 kilometers while maintaining high terminal energy and maneuverability through ramjet propulsion. Future trials on the Su-30MKI platform will validate seeker performance, datalink stability, and electronic warfare resilience, potentially positioning Astra Mk3 among the world’s most advanced indigenous long-range air combat missiles.
