India has reached a significant milestone in its long-running Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) initiative with the successful completion of advanced trials under Phase 2 of the program. The system incorporates the AD-1 and AD-2 interceptor missiles, designed to neutralize ballistic threats both within and beyond the Earth’s atmosphere. Supported by an extensive network of long-range tracking radars, command centers, and secure communication links, the architecture provides layered protection against evolving missile threats. Future development phases are expected to focus on emerging challenges such as hypersonic weapons and advanced re-entry vehicle technologies, strengthening India’s strategic defensive posture.
