Tiberius Aerospace and the US Army are working together to advance the Sceptre, an advanced 155mm artillery projectile that uses liquid-ramjet propulsion to extend artillery reach to as much as 150 kilometers. The partnership was established through a CRADA with the Army’s DEVCOM Armaments Center, providing a framework for research and technical cooperation. Designed for NATO-standard 155mm artillery systems, Sceptre is intended to travel faster than Mach 3, climb beyond 65,000 feet and achieve precision of approximately five meters even when satellite navigation is unavailable. Its liquid-fueled ramjet differs from conventional rocket-assisted projectiles by delivering sustained thrust during flight. The propulsion system can use commonly available military fuels, including diesel and aviation fuels, potentially simplifying logistics. The munition also incorporates a modular software-defined architecture and Tiberius Aerospace’s GRAIL AI platform. This approach is intended to allow continuous improvements to targeting, guidance, autonomy and mission capabilities throughout the projectile’s operational life.
