The US Navy has selected Virginia-based CoAspire to develop an affordable ground-launched cruise missile designed to provide allied nations with improved long-range strike capabilities. The weapon is being developed under the Coalition Heterogeneous Affordable Offensive Strike program through a $70 million Prototype Other Transaction Agreement.Based on CoAspire’s Rapidly Adaptable Affordable Cruise Missile-Extended Range (RAACM-ER), the system combines a missile booster and ground launcher to create a surface-based strike capability. The weapon is intended to engage both stationary land targets and moving maritime threats.The missile uses GPS-assisted navigation combined with a long-wave infrared seeker, allowing it to operate in environments where electronic warfare threats may interfere with traditional systems. The passive seeker does not transmit signals during terminal guidance, improving survivability against detection and countermeasures.The RAACM-ER family can reportedly be launched from aircraft, submarines, and land platforms, providing flexible deployment options for US partners and coalition forces.
