The United Kingdom has expanded its long-range precision strike capability by joining the United States-led Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) program, representing another milestone in the modernization of British land forces. Supported through the government’s Defence Investment Plan, the acquisition introduces highly accurate ballistic missiles capable of striking targets beyond 500 kilometers, with future upgrades expected to extend operational range even further. The Lockheed Martin-developed missile is fully compatible with the upgraded M270A2 Multiple Launch Rocket System, allowing rapid integration into existing artillery formations. The capability complements Britain’s expanding portfolio of long-range weapons, including ground-launched cruise missiles, autonomous strike drones, and collaborative missile development initiatives with Germany, France, and Italy. Participation also reinforces the AUKUS partnership by deepening technological cooperation in advanced military systems, artificial intelligence, and future battlefield integration. Collectively, these investments position the British Army to conduct long-range precision engagements against high-value targets while enhancing interoperability with allied forces.
