The US State Department has approved a potential $250 million Foreign Military Sale (FMS) package to Australia covering advanced training and sustainment support for the Royal Australian Air Force’s F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler fleets. Rather than supplying new aircraft, the package focuses on classified and unclassified pilot training, maintenance instruction, protective equipment, logistics assistance, and technical support delivered by the US government and authorized contractors. The approval reinforces long-term operational readiness while improving interoperability between Australian, US, and allied forces operating throughout the Indo-Pacific region. Australia remains the only international operator of the EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft and continues modernizing the platform with the integration of the Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band system. The expanded training program will ensure aircrews and maintenance personnel remain prepared to operate advanced electronic warfare and multirole combat aircraft effectively in increasingly complex operational environments.
