The US Air Force Special Operations Command has integrated GBU-39B Small Diameter Bombs onto MQ-9 Reaper drones, expanding the aircraft’s precision strike capability in contested environments. The low-yield guided munition allows the MQ-9 to engage targets at long range while minimizing collateral damage. Equipped with BRU-78 dual bomb racks, the drone can carry multiple precision weapons during a single mission. The integration enhances the MQ-9’s ability to support unconventional warfare, fire support, and special operations missions while remaining outside many enemy air defense ranges.
