Turbo-Technik has been selected by Germany’s defense procurement agency to prepare F124-class frigates for operations with the NH90 Sea Tiger naval helicopter, including modifications to flight decks, hangars, and onboard support infrastructure. The integration effort supports the German Navy’s transition away from the long-serving Sea Lynx Mk88A helicopters toward a more advanced maritime combat platform. Germany previously ordered 31 NH90 Sea Tiger helicopters as part of a multibillion-euro modernization program intended to improve naval warfare capabilities against both surface and underwater threats. The Sea Tiger incorporates modern sensors, mission systems, and weapons such as torpedoes and anti-ship missiles, alongside dipping sonar and sonobuoy suites for submarine tracking. In addition to combat missions, the helicopter can perform reconnaissance, transport, and search-and-rescue operations, significantly enhancing the operational flexibility of Germany’s frigate fleet.
