Swedish defense manufacturer Saab has unveiled the enhanced Bolide 2 missile as the future standard munition for the RBS 70 NG air defense platform. Designed to address evolving drone threats, the missile introduces a 50 percent increase in explosive payload and 40 percent more fragmentation while maintaining compatibility with earlier RBS 70 variants. The upgraded interceptor also incorporates improved target-detection sensors and an aluminum-shaped charge for more effective penetration. Saab’s focus on anti-drone optimization reflects broader global demand for short-range air defense systems capable of countering small UAVs and high-flying reconnaissance platforms.
