The Indian Air Force and MBDA are moving ahead with plans to create an indigenous MICA missile overhaul and maintenance hub in India to improve lifecycle support for the service’s French-origin air-to-air weapons inventory. MBDA will supply industrial infrastructure, technical packages, tools, and specialist training required for missile refurbishment and servicing, while the IAF will manage facility operations and sustainment activities. The project is expected to reduce dependency on overseas support chains and improve operational readiness for Rafale and Mirage 2000 fleets equipped with RF and IR variants of the MICA missile. The initiative also aligns with India’s broader effort to expand domestic defense maintenance and repair ecosystems.
