German defense firm Diehl Defence has signed a memorandum of understanding with Latvia-based Ripo Remonta Centrs to jointly establish a regional support hub for advanced air defense systems. The collaboration will provide comprehensive maintenance and technical services for platforms including the IRIS-T SLM system, recently acquired by Baltic nations. By localizing support capabilities within Latvia, the initiative is expected to enhance operational readiness and reduce turnaround times for system servicing. The agreement reflects broader European efforts to strengthen regional defense infrastructure and cooperation. It was finalized during high-level discussions between Latvian and German defense ministers, signaling a shared commitment to improving air defense capabilities across the Baltic region.
