GE Aerospace has secured a $1.4-billion contract to deliver additional T408 turboshaft engines for the US Marine Corps’ CH-53K King Stallion helicopter. Covering production lots nine through 13, the deal includes new engines, spares, and maintenance services. The T408 provides 7,500 horsepower per engine, giving the CH-53K significantly greater range and payload capacity than its predecessor. Designed with fewer parts and improved fuel efficiency, the engine enhances reliability and sustainment for heavy-lift operations.
