The US Navy has awarded Northrop Grumman a $94.3 million contract to develop and qualify a second-stage solid rocket motor to extend missile range and speed. Sixty units will be produced for testing and initial production. The 21-inch motor supports missions across air, surface, and missile defense domains, including hypersonic threat countering. Northrop’s expanding propulsion infrastructure across multiple states underscores its central role in advanced missile development and the rapid scaling of solid rocket motor production.
