Elbit Systems has secured approximately $150 million in contracts to equip European aircraft fleets with its J-MUSIC Directed Infrared Countermeasures system. The awards include installations on high-value airborne platforms operated by an undisclosed European customer, as well as transport aircraft belonging to NATO member states. The contracts follow a previous agreement with Airbus to supply the system for Germany’s A400M fleet. J-MUSIC is designed to protect aircraft from infrared-guided missiles, particularly man-portable air defense systems, which pose a persistent threat to transport, tanker, and VIP aircraft. The system combines advanced laser technology and imaging sensors in a lightweight, modular configuration that supports integration across multiple aircraft types and missile warning systems.
