Saab has received a SEK 2.5 billion ($270 million) contract from Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration to support ongoing development of the Gripen fighter system through 2028. The funding covers test aircraft operations, simulators, and advanced development rigs that allow Saab to validate upgrades and integrate new avionics, sensors, and weapons. By sustaining a robust testing ecosystem, Saab aims to ensure Gripen remains adaptable to emerging threats and interoperable with allied air forces. The work also supports international operators, including Brazil, Hungary, and the Czech Republic, whose fleets benefit from continuous modernization.
