The United States has approved a prospective $620 million Foreign Military Sale to Bulgaria, encompassing a Naval Strike Missile Coastal Defense System and a range of supporting equipment. This five-year deal comprises tactical missiles, advanced Link-16 Joint Tactical Radio Systems for secure battlefield communication, and mobile control centers with integrated communications. The package further includes operator training consoles, GPS modules, and all necessary logistics for missile and equipment handling.

As part of this agreement, Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace of Norway will act as the principal contractor. The sale mandates the temporary relocation of US and contractor specialists to Bulgaria for system integration and technical assistance. The State Department has emphasized the deal’s importance in enhancing Bulgaria’s defense posture as a NATO ally, contributing to deterrence, and improving interoperability with US and allied forces in the region.
