Raytheon and Northrop Grumman have finished testing new rocket propulsion for the Army’s Next-Gen Short-Range Interceptor, meant to succeed the Stinger missile.
These rocket motors incorporate Highly Loaded Grain propellant for extended flight and greater kinetic force. The missile is designed for mobile and man-portable use.
The fourth phase included three static tests and one flight test in varying conditions. More evaluations are scheduled. Earlier this year, Raytheon finalized testing of the NGSRI’s core systems.
