During exercise Balikatan 2026, Lockheed Martin showcased its NGC2 command-and-control prototype designed to support distributed military operations across the Indo-Pacific. The system fused data from multiple sensors and firing platforms into a common operational picture, enabling coordinated strikes involving Apache helicopters, HIMARS launchers, artillery, and mortars. Tested across command nodes in the Philippines, Hawaii, and the continental United States, the architecture demonstrated long-distance operational coordination without relying on centralized headquarters. The initiative forms part of ongoing US efforts to modernize digital battlefield management and improve allied interoperability in contested environments.
