Washington has greenlit two potential Foreign Military Sales to India totaling $92.8 million, further cementing the strategic defense partnership between the two countries. The approvals cover Javelin FGM-148 missile systems and M982A1 Excalibur precision artillery rounds, along with related training, support, and equipment.

The first package, priced at $45.7 million, includes one Javelin fly-to-buy missile, 100 Javelin rounds, and 25 CLUs used for targeting and launch operations. India will also receive training simulators, CLU skill-building systems, battery coolant units, and support services. The shoulder-launched Javelin offers infantry units an advanced fire-and-forget capability capable of defeating armored targets at ranges from 65 meters up to 4 km.

The second sale, valued at $47.1 million, provides up to 216 Excalibur precision-guided 155 mm artillery rounds. The purchase includes ancillary equipment such as fire control devices, integration kits, propellant charges, and primers. Excalibur combines GPS and inertial navigation to deliver highly accurate long-range strikes, boasting a 2-meter CEP performance.

Built through a collaboration between RTX and Lockheed Martin, the Javelin system features a robust CLU that enables engagement in poor visibility and can even be deployed remotely via unmanned ground systems. Together, the Javelin and Excalibur significantly enhance India’s ability to counter armored threats and conduct precision artillery operations, according to the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency.
