Lockheed Martin has landed a $999 million contract from the US Department of Defense to provide comprehensive lifecycle support for the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) and the Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM). This agreement, valid through July 2030, encompasses upgrades, system integration, manufacturing, logistics, and sustainment for all missile variants currently in the US Air Force inventory. Work will be conducted at Lockheed Martin’s Orlando, Florida, facilities.
JASSM is a renowned, long-range cruise missile engineered for high-precision strikes on both stationary and mobile targets. Equipped with a 450kg warhead and exceeding 500 nautical miles in range, the system is deployed on multiple US and allied aircraft including the F-15E, F-16, F/A-18, and F-35. The latest AGM-158B-2 variant incorporates a modernized missile control unit and enhanced anti-jam GPS, ensuring continued adaptation and operational relevance through upcoming upgrades.
