Archer Aviation has formalized a strategic partnership with Karem Aircraft to integrate Karem’s advanced military rotor and tiltrotor systems into Archer’s developing autonomous, hybrid VTOL platform. Through the agreement, Archer gains access to components of Karem’s tiltrotor design that have already been vetted through US Army evaluation. Combined with technologies Archer recently acquired from Overair and Lilium, the collaboration aims to create a VTOL aircraft with greater speed, range, payload efficiency, and reduced thermal and acoustic output—capabilities essential for challenging operational environments. Archer’s established defense portfolio includes the Midnight electric VTOL aircraft, presently in use by the US Air Force. Karem’s designs have also been demonstrated through tactical programs involving MQ-1 Predator and A160 Hummingbird unmanned systems. This initiative follows Archer’s joint work with Anduril on a classified hybrid VTOL project aligned with a potential US Department of Defense requirement, though specifics remain undisclosed. In a related development, Archer recently signed a deal to supply its electric powertrain for the Omen UAV under the Anduril–EDGE Group joint venture. This marks the first release of Archer’s core propulsion technology to an external defense program. Approximately 50 Omen aircraft are expected to be sourced by the UAE from this collaboration.
