India is set to advance its major fighter acquisition program by issuing an RFP to Dassault Aviation for 114 aircraft. The plan combines direct imports with domestic production to balance urgent requirements and industrial growth. With over half the aircraft to be built in India, the program supports self-reliance and strengthens the defense manufacturing base. It is also key to addressing declining squadron numbers and ensuring long-term operational readiness. Negotiations will focus on cost, technology transfer, and local participation, making it one of the most complex defense deals currently underway.
