Dynetics has received a $617-million US Army contract to continue fielding the IFPC Increment 2 air defense system. The deal covers launcher production, retrofit prototypes, ammunition magazines, training systems, spare parts, sustainment, and engineering support through 2029. IFPC bridges the gap between short-range defenses and higher-tier systems like Patriot, adding protection against cruise missiles and unmanned threats. Each unit links four launchers with Sentinel radars via the Army’s Integrated Battle Command System. The platform currently employs AIM-9X missiles, though a future interceptor for faster low-flying threats is being pursued. The latest order indicates growing momentum toward wider operational deployment.
