The US Army has awarded a $20-million contract to Mistral Inc. for the delivery of Thor mini unmanned aerial systems. Developed in collaboration with Elbit Systems subsidiary Fuse, the Thor Group 2 UAS is designed for rapid deployment and multi-mission flexibility. The drone features vertical takeoff capability, modular payload integration, and autonomous operations lasting up to 70 minutes. With a payload capacity of 10 kilograms and deployment time under two minutes, it supports missions such as reconnaissance, target acquisition, electronic warfare, and logistics resupply. This procurement highlights the growing importance of agile, survivable drone systems in modern battlefield operations.
