Hanwha Aerospace has developed the AS21 Redback IFV as part of Australia’s LAND 400 Phase 3 program to replace aging armored vehicles. Designed for high-intensity warfare, the Redback integrates advanced sensors, modular weapon systems, and digital battlefield connectivity. It features a 30mm Bushmaster II cannon, anti-tank guided missile capability, and an active protection system to counter incoming threats. The platform offers enhanced survivability through layered armor, blast-resistant design, and real-time situational awareness. Despite its advanced capabilities, challenges include higher weight, logistical demands, and limited combat history. The Redback represents a next-generation approach to mechanized warfare, combining protection, firepower, and adaptability.
