Turkish defense manufacturer Otokar has unveiled the first Cobra II infantry mobility vehicle produced in Romania during a defense and aerospace exhibition in Bucharest. The rollout marks the beginning of local manufacturing activities tied to Romania’s major procurement program for 1,059 Cobra II armored vehicles for the Romanian Army. Under the initiative, the first batch will be delivered from Turkey, while 781 vehicles will eventually be assembled at Otokar’s production facility in Mediaș, Romania. The program supports Bucharest’s efforts to strengthen domestic defense manufacturing while modernizing military mobility capabilities. Alongside the Cobra II, Otokar also displayed its Tulpar tracked infantry fighting vehicle fitted with the Mizrak 30 turret, as well as a next-generation unmanned ground vehicle developed in cooperation with Romanian company BlueSpace Technologies and Turkish partner Elektroland Defense.
