Norway has ordered 20 Patria 6×6 armored vehicles as part of the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System program. The vehicles will be delivered in command-and-control configurations and equipped with Protector RS4 remote weapon stations.The agreement also includes training, spare parts, and other support services. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026, while Norway has options for another 40 command-and-control vehicles and associated RS4 weapon stations.The procurement follows Oslo’s decision to sign a framework agreement with Patria for serial CAVS production. Norway formally became the seventh participating country in the multinational program in 2025.Established in 2020, CAVS is intended to provide participating nations with a common modern 6×6 armored vehicle platform. Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Norway, and the UK are currently involved in the program, while CAVS vehicles have already been delivered to several participating countries and are also in service in Ukraine.The Patria 6×6 serves as the foundation of the system. It is designed as a multirole armored personnel carrier with an expected service life of up to 30 years. The vehicle measures approximately 8 meters long and can weigh up to 20 tons depending on its configuration.A standard vehicle can accommodate a crew of three and carry up to 10 personnel. A 394-horsepower Scania diesel engine provides a maximum road speed of around 100 kilometers per hour and a range of approximately 700 kilometers.Norway’s participation expands the international user base of the CAVS platform and provides its armed forces with a common vehicle architecture that can support command, mobility, protection, and other battlefield functions.
