Australia has committed 1.2 billion AUD to strengthen its ground vehicle fleet. This includes acquiring 268 new Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles from Thales and upgrading existing Hawkei vehicles and Rheinmetall truck systems. Production will take place in Bendigo and Brisbane, with deliveries starting in 2027. The upgraded vehicles will feature improved protection, mobility, and integration of advanced weapons and digital systems. This move also replenishes inventory after donations to Ukraine and supports Australia’s broader defence expansion plans.
