Thales is developing advanced electro-optic countermeasure technologies under the UK’s Next Generation Soft Kill program aimed at improving the survivability of future military vehicles. Working alongside British defense company QinetiQ, the project focuses on systems capable of disrupting enemy detection, tracking, and targeting systems without physically destroying incoming threats. Multiple protection concepts will be evaluated before a final design moves into detailed development and testing. The effort reflects growing interest in non-kinetic survivability technologies as battlefield threats become increasingly sensor-driven and networked.
