ARTEC, the joint venture of KNDS Deutschland and Rheinmetall, has secured a contract to procure 69 additional Boxer RCT30 infantry fighting vehicles for the German and Dutch armed forces. The order follows the purchase of 222 vehicles in 2025. Germany will receive 35 vehicles, while the Netherlands will receive 34, raising its total fleet to 106. The Boxer RCT30 is planned as a key platform for Germany’s new Medium Forces, which are designed to provide highly mobile wheeled formations between heavy armoured units and light infantry. The vehicle combines the Boxer platform with the 30 mm turret developed for the Puma infantry fighting vehicle and can engage moving targets while travelling. Designated “Schakal” by Germany, it also has capabilities against drones and aircraft. Its MELLS anti-tank guided missile system allows it to engage heavily armoured targets, including main battle tanks. The vehicle can carry six dismounted soldiers and is intended to serve as the main weapon system for mechanised infantry units within the Medium Forces.
