Britain has signed a $1.33-billion agreement for 72 RCH 155 artillery systems under its Mobile Fires Platform modernization effort aimed at replacing the long-serving AS-90 howitzer fleet. Developed by KNDS and Rheinmetall, the Boxer-mounted system combines high mobility, automated loading, and long-range precision fires, including the capability to fire accurately while moving. The procurement follows the UK’s donation of AS-90 systems to Ukraine and aligns with the joint UK-Germany Trinity House defense framework. Domestic production of barrels, chassis modules, and major components is expected to support hundreds of jobs while strengthening Britain’s industrial artillery base.
