The EU has authorized an additional €100 million in support for Lebanon’s armed forces amid concerns over the fragile security situation along the Israeli-Lebanese border. European officials view the Lebanese military as a key institution for preserving stability and enforcing state authority during a critical period marked by ceasefire violations and continued regional tensions. The newly approved assistance package raises total EU support to the Lebanese military to €182 million and underscores Europe’s commitment to strengthening Lebanon’s defense institutions while encouraging long-term security and political stability in the country.
