HAL and the Indian Navy are developing the N-CATS Warrior Navy, a new carrier-based stealth UCAV designed for loyal wingman operations. Concept imagery indicates that the aircraft may evolve into a dedicated naval platform rather than a derivative of the land-based CATS Warrior. The drone is expected to carry approximately one tonne of weapons, feature foldable wings, and incorporate low-observable characteristics optimized for maritime missions. Capable of supporting manned fighters during combat operations, the system could undertake reconnaissance, electronic warfare, decoy missions, and precision strikes while extending the reach of carrier-based aviation assets. Its development aligns with India’s broader strategy to field advanced unmanned systems capable of operating in contested environments and strengthening future carrier strike group capabilities.
