Ankara is exploring expanded defense partnerships with Tokyo, focusing particularly on unmanned aerial systems and autonomous technologies. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan highlighted the successful operational record of Turkish drone platforms and suggested that combining Turkey’s practical UAS experience with Japan’s technological strengths could generate significant opportunities for future defense projects. The initiative follows recent bilateral agreements between defense procurement agencies from both countries and reflects a broader effort to strengthen strategic and industrial cooperation in advanced military technologies.
